Design reportLocation: South East Asia, Pakistan.Introduction Light and Space is such a broad yet tiny spectrum that can either give you a 100 different ideas to stopping you at just 1. The way we were given creative freedom to using a space we choose to however we like it, there were many elements of beautifying with the help of light so as to please the eyes as well as enhance an already geographically blessed existing space. The process of analyzing the space, how it is interacted with, the way it is affected ecologically was a whole process which would eventually lead to a brainstorming of students and what truly pleases them in the world of design and architecture.Concept Our concept of this redesign was to create a space that would provide a comfort area for maximum amount of people at the same time, and be pleasing to look at while interacting with it. The use of making a structure that is made with units to make one whole structure is to allow ourselves to use the voids in different ways to add everything we need to the space without actually having to overbuild or overcrowd the area. We rely heavily on the help of the sun that plays the role of a light source interacting with our design and take it to its full potential with the colours.Functionality Pakistan being a country that can go to very high temperatures in the summers where you cannot bear to sit under the scorching sun, you feel the need to find a comfortable area to rest. Keeping this information in mind, our design also heavily relies on the materials that it will be using. The exoskeleton will be made out of Aluminum rods, as it highs a higher boiling point and is preferred to be used over metal or steel. With the coloured windows, we will be using polycarbonate sheets of different colours which completes two of the very important needs this design has; the use of light and colours, and the fact that it has a high boiling point of at least 270 degrees serving the purpose of keeping the place cool and comfortable.Inspiration The design of the style was greatly inspired by the Montreal Biosphere and the concept of the bucky ball. Hence why our design makes itself into a dome using multiple triangles and aligning them alongside each other. Since this is supposed to be an open space the front part of the dome is made with such a mechanism that is retractable and goes into the roof – upper part of the dome – and if needed can also come down to completely close it up.
