Sewoon Shopping Center is South Korea’s first residential and commercial complex, with a mega structure connecting Jongro and Toegyero in Seoul. Since its completion in 1968, it has attracted attention as the center of housing and distribution, but since the 1970s, it has begun to walk the path of crisis with the overall economic growth of Seoul. Sewoon Shopping Center, which was on the crisis of requidation, was reborn as “Maker City Sewoon” through the Seoul Urban Regeneration Project in 2014. During the reconstruction process, a ‘rooftop walk’ was designed to connect shopping malls above the walking paths on both sides of the shopping mall, causing inconvenience to shopping residents and visitors. This enviornment in the city is alienated and soon becomes a shadow of the city. The biggest advantage of daylight is that is one of the important factors of life that guarantees the quality of life to anyone despite different conditions. We try to solve the problem by utilizing daylight and provide a fair and pleasant passage environment to anyone without an alienated space.
