The site is a bus stop located opposite to Tehzeeb Bakers, Chaklala Scheme III Rawalpindi,Pakistan. This specific bus stop was selected because of its easy accessibility from our college and residence. The bus stop is at a very prime location where it is surrounded by residential, school, academy and commercial areas on both sides. It is a standing stop for delivery service riders like Jovi etc., rickshaws and taxis. The stop is mainly used by students, middle class, people working in the market, drivers. The site is covered by trees hence providing shade. The structure itself looks visually appealing but few of the shortcomings were noticed. The shortcomings like lack of benches and chairs, gaps in the roof which is not ideal for rainy weather, open from all sides providing no privacy. Keeping in mind all these factors, different interventions were done. The existing structure was not demolished and interventions were made in it. Different elements are added like shelves, benches, louvers, solar lights and the gap between the roof is covered by a yellow acrylic sheet. Light sensors are installed to control louvres according to the sunlight. Another sensor is added to close the remaining gaps in the roof during rain and thunderstorms. The materials used are acrylic sheet, steel, reflective material , wood and plastic. All the materials used are made from recycling. The main concept of the redesigning was creating a space for the user where they can wait or stop and rest for a little time.
