This project looks into possible solution of helping farmers in Kaduna, Nigeria, to get light in the night on their path to their homes. We have derived sustainable light mechanism of spreading and diffusing light, not only focusing on the path but also lighting the bushes along the path. The light mechanism is divided into four phases: the solar cell panel, the framing system, the led lights/lamps and the glass prism. The solar cell panel converts the light from the sun (solar energy) into electricity through a photovoltaic effect. Charge controller, battery bank, inverter and connecting wires inside the framing system help to transmit the current useful to light the led lights/lamps. There are glass prisms that enclose the led lights so as to disperse light farther from the source of light. This light mechanism is mounted on bamboos that are braced together. The bamboo is a sustainable material which is readily available, economical and has a high strength to weight ratio for structural purpose. The movement of farmers from home to farm and vice versa will be a safe one and as such this project proves that when there is light, there is life.
