The observation pavilion is located in Northeast Iceland, on Lake Myvatn. It has the form of an ellipse with an internal cutout, from which a bridge connecting water with land departs. The elliptical shape resembles the characteristic features of the area – the pseudocraters Skútustaðagígar – created by gas explosions during the flow of hot lava. The designed form is ultimately a place of contemplation of nature and relaxation. Inside the main part there are two symmetrical benches and a table with a closed recess. These elements complete the interior, creating a friendly and comfortable shelter for users. The entire form, structure and interior are consistent thanks to the use of wooden boards with specific dimensions and sections. Protection against weather conditions is ensured by glass panels inserted between the formwork of the front and rear walls and the ceiling joists. The pavilion opens up a view of the Icelandic landscape and allows you to observe nature, the northern lights and the night sky. An important element of the structure is an internal elliptical cutout forming an internal pool, which enables observations of the night sky and the aurora borealis reflecting in the water surface.
