Redesigning Bus Stop

We have opted for Shamsabad metro station situated in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Being located on the main Murree road, the metro station itself remains very crowded. It is based around many commercial areas, namely, Arid University, Rawalpindi Art Council and Pindi cricket stadium mainly. This area is known to be busy due to being the center of traffic approaching from the road side including the university. It is highly in public use. One of the major drawbacks is the unavailability of vacant and sufficient sitting space for the masses. Another significant drawback is the congestion and pollution the site faces because of being situated at the Murree road. The entire area also faces indirect sunlight due to the bridge and the wind flow also gets disrupted due to the obstruction. The reason we decided to remodel it was to expand the sitting space, hence making it sufficient and convenient for everyone. It was remodelled in such a way that one of the areas gets exposed to the sunlight whereas the other area doesn’t. We have kept in view that the entire area has cross ventilation, refraining it from getting suffocated. Instead of blocking the view completely, we have kept it partial making it easier to track the bus.
