The Reflection on The Thoughts of Gibran Khalil Gibran

The chosen site is located in one of the richest and most splendid regions in the North of Lebanon. Being surrounded by the Valley of Quadisha and the village of Becharreh, a sense of serenity and calmness roams through the vast spaces of the land. The unique location of the site and its proximity to the famous Museum of Gibran Khalil Gibran reflects the true beauty of the country, its history and its art. Using a sculptured approach permits the preservation of the surrounding lands and museum and gives the project a certain natural beauty encircled by the mountains and rocks. The project will be using the museum as a departure point, highlighting the most essential aspect: its door. The entire concept focuses on the natural light provided which represents the reflection on Gibran Khalil Gebran’s thoughts and art. Being surrounded by such a rich culture has impacted the entire architecture around the land. To sum up, the entire project focuses on a simple equation, a perfect balance of light and nature which allows us to see the world though the eyes of Gibran Khalil Gibran and allows us to feel his thoughts and his art that taught us to appreciate the joy, the sadness, the anger and the fear the world around us offers. The emotional vibe of the project and its closeness to such serene nature, grants any individual entering the chance to self-reflect and to appreciate the journey of life and its roller coaster of emotions. This concept concentrates on two key properties: a message and a need. When contemplating the feeling of sadness, a message of loss and parting and a need for a meaningful action comes to mind which is reflected through the separation created by natural light and glass. Anger, while being a very natural sensation, conveys a message of interference and violated value. The role of light in this case is to set limits and to tackle the deep reasons of the anger within. Another focal emotion in life is fear which sends a message of danger to the mind and a need to protect oneself. Benefiting from the rocky nature of the project, a sense of danger can be expressed while walking through. This alongside the light which highlights the steepness of the rocks and the mountains allows the genuine reflection of fear. When envisioning the feeling of joy, a sense of accomplishment and a need for sharing success is observed. This project uses the light to create a gist of tranquility, calmness and peacefulness. Life without emotions and feelings does not exist. Sadness, anger, fear and joy are what allow the continuity of human life. For without sadness and anger, joy is not appreciated and without fear, life is not truly valued. The same way that water, fire, land and most importantly light are what allow the continuity of the world. This project not only embraces all these components, but uses their power to create an infinite pool of opportunities and chances to experience life in more ways than one. Only one thing is constant and that is time. The true beauty of this project is the fact that is surpasses time and breaks all its limits by relying simply on water, soil and light. The true definition of infinity!
