Indonesian people are famous for their friendliness and mostly cannot live without knowing/socializing with their neighbors but because of the pandemic, we were suggested to stay at home and minimize the contact inside public areas. This new practice effects to children socializing training. Because of the limitation with the outside world, some of them are lacking in social skills and miss their chance to create unique childhood memories.

In order to solve that problem, a semi-outdoor playground will help to train children’s social skills with bare minimum risk which was reduced by good natural air and natural lighting circulation whilst providing a comfortable space to play around with other children. Opening on its every side was provided so that natural lighting can reach every corner of the building. Sitting area was also provided so that people inside can enjoy sunrise-sunset through the window glass with wood structure that helps capturing beautiful sun rays inside the building.

Triangle shape was chosen because of its site location in a tropical land, in Graha Natura Park, Surabaya – Indonesia to be precise, thus the building form was elongated from east to west to minimize heat absorption on the wider faces. Material such as : concrete, woods, low-E glass, and bamboo are chosen to prevent too much heat absorption in the tropical country whilst keeping it as sustainable as possible. In addition, to get better circulation a hole in the rooftop was provided to get stack effect circulation & more natural lighting inside the building.
