Tidal is an underwater pavilion that invited users to experience the elements of water and light together. The dense form aims to contrast the deep blue of the water with the light rays that glisten from the skylights above.

The form is drawn from the tidal forms that take biomimicry to inform its shape. The concept behind the design is to shape a structure that uses ECOncrete as its base material that will allow for the growth of marine life onto its faces.

The tidal pools above allow water to funnel into a cave-like space below that. At the base of the pool exists a glass panel that shears light below into the open gallery below. The panel takes inspiration from the VELUX skylight products in its use to light the space below. This space is one that celebrated the organic textures and light-play that is reflected upon the walls. This experience invites users to grow a greater appreciation for the aquatic life that sits before them.
