The issueThis project focuses on the problem of urban canyons, which has been rising ever since the streets in cities became more narrow and the buildings taller. The most important issue concerning urban canyons is the deficit, or even lack of daylight reaching the ground, or lower floors of the buildings while top floors are met with sunlight glare. The solutionOur team came up with an idea that would not only brighten the lower levels of the dark streets, providing more security and helping the crime rate decrease, but also will it disperse the overwhelming sunlight reaching the tops of the buildings and bring more life into the usually gloomy places. The main focus while designing the stained glass- inspired forms was their shape and texture that would allow the sunbeams to go through it while also distributing it to the ground. The funky colours of the installation also provide a pleasant distraction for the street dwellers and people working or living in the buildings.
