In late 2019, the COVID-19 epidemic emerged in Wuhan and soon swept the world, causing huge impacts on human life, forcing people to stay at home and filling hospitals. Wuhan, the worst-hit city in China, built Huoshenshan Hospital in a very short time as a special hospital for COVID-19 patients which saved many patients' lives. In the future after the epidemic, we hope to build an underground memorial hall on the site of Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital, using changing light and shadow to shape the space, so as to commemorate the dead and record this global event. The memorial hall is composed of 4 main memorial spaces, including the overture—Sunken Past, the bedding—Memorial Hall, the climax—Meditation Space and the epilogue—Reflection. With the help of light, it creates 4 progressive spaces. In the memorial hall, light, as a recorder and narrator, tells the event to the visitors, and pays tribute to the dead together with people.
