Namibia is a country located in southern Africa, and its western border is the Atlantic Ocean. As the driest country in Sub-Saharan Africa, it has a special African ecological environment as well as extensive wildlife, which attracts a million tourists per year. Therefore, tourism becomes one of the major contributors (14.5%) to Namibia’s GDP. The Namib desert is located in the west of this country and stretches for more than 2,000 kilometers near the Atlantic coast. There are many wildlife groups in this area, so this is also one of the main areas for wildlife sightseeing tourism. On the Atlantic coast west of the Namib Desert, there is a gravel driving road (C34 road) which is the only tourist road in the desert, and it goes through half of the desert. However, there are always no people, no cars, no shop for hundreds of kilometers on the road, so there are few places for tourists or passers-by to rest and get water. Unlike other deserts, Namib is enveloped by fogs which are created by air belt above the sea frequently, and there is no light at night, so the happening of accidents are increasing. However, as a popular tourism road, for self-drive tourists or local passers-by people in the evening is important. Therefore, this project is aimed to create a multifunctional lighting service device using new material which includes the function of capturing vapor in the fog and generating drinking water, as well as using water circulation to illuminate the road automatically. Each of the equipment can work as an independent service stop on the road and promote the development of Namibia tourism.
