As part of our mission to explore the limitless potential of daylight and architecture, we are sharing recommendations and inspiration currently on our team’s radar.
The recently published ‘Extreme Environments – Architectural Possibilities for a Challenged World’ by David A. Garcia emerges from his architectural practice and approach to teaching architecture students at The Royal Danish Academy as an Associate Professor of the Master’s Programme: ‘Architecture and Extreme Environments’.
Published by Arkitektens Forlag (The Danish Architectural Press), this book examines how architecture responds to the world’s most challenging settings – from Arctic landscapes to desert regions and polluted industrial areas. Through interviews, essays, and research documentation, it explores how architects integrate fieldwork, local knowledge, and technology to create resilient design solutions.
We are proud that the book features work from two past global winners of the International VELUX Award and competition for students of architecture.
The book is now available for purchase online.
