The Solar Aqua Lamp is an innovative and multifunctional device designed to store and transport light and energy portably, while also actively distilling water to provide fresh drinking water. This is particularly beneficial in remote or off-grid areas where access to electricity and clean water is limited. The lamp offers a sustainable and cost-effective solution by utilizing renewable energy sources, making it an essential tool for improving the quality of life in underserved communities. In addition to its primary functions, it also serves as a reliable lighting source, which can be crucial in various situations.

Recently, Tropical Cyclone Remal caused significant devastation in India and Bangladesh, resulting in over 50 fatalities and severe damage to infrastructure. The cyclone led to the pollution of water sources and disrupted energy supplies. The Mizoram government announced that electricity and water supplies would be stifled due to the extensive damage. In such scenarios, the Solar Aqua Lamp could be a lifesaver, providing essential services such as water filtration and clean water storage, thereby preventing the spread of waterborne diseases like cholera. Additionally, it would offer reliable lighting in shelters, crucial during power outages.

The deployment of Solar Aqua Lamps could protect millions of people who are left without power, as authorities often preemptively shut down electricity to prevent accidents caused by fallen trees and broken lines during disasters. The lamp is also affordable, making it accessible to the rural poor and meeting their basic needs for light and clean water. Its portability and scalability allow for mass transportation and distribution, making it an effective tool for disaster management. Moreover, the promotion of such eco-friendly devices aligns with sustainable development goals and can enhance eco-tourism in rural areas.
