The main objective of the project was to create an artistic installation, which invites to play and socialise. Nowadays, there is an increasing issue with the reluctance of movement in children. The installation is a way to make recreation in the sun interesting and fulfilling the Daylight Shower rule of at least fifteen minutes in the sun daily. Instead of allowing children to stay in front of the artificial light, the structure aids them in creative play in daylight. The project was inspired by James Turrell’s quote ‘Colour is just in a small area of our vision and the rest we add with the mind”. To make the colour, we chose to integrate a prism into the design. This is a way to create an interest in optics as well as solar motion while sparking creativity. Since the sunbeams are never in the same place, the effect that the prism makes will differ hourly, catching the eye of a child and teaching it the potential of sunlight in our day-to-day life. The beach is a perfect environment for the installation, considering the exposure and lack of shadows- the best prismal effect will be made there. Furthermore, there is a deficiency in entertainment for kids in the beach areas- the installation gives them a safe space to socialise, play and learn. Instead of being bored, the children will engage in creative and smart recreational activities making them more conscious in the future.
