The crash of Chinese Eastern Airlines MU5735 this year has attracted global attention, and the relatives of the crash victims are undoubtedly the most sentimental and painful people. Trauma psychology experts said that unless proper psychological intervention is obtained, the psychological trauma caused by the sudden death of loved ones may be long-lasting. For those relatives of the deceased who left suddenly, they have a lot to say. Only when the demands to tell are satisfied, the pain of the psychological trauma can be gradually healed.
I plan to provide those relatives with care and comfort through the element of light which can warm the heart and create spaces for the relatives of the crash to tell.
Thus, I plan to build such three kinds of narrative urban spaces which may be located on the roof of major community centers in China to help relatives of victims get out of haze and face life positively as soon as possible.
In addition, these spaces can be also used as exhibition spaces to commemorate soldiers who sacrificed or made contributions in disasters and promote positive energy to the society.
Then, sun path has been taken into consideration during design. Equinox is a turning point where interior daylight condition changes. For half year, light comes in through skylights and lighting chimneys while for the rest of year light comes in through openings on walls. The rule of sun path is also applied to design and control opening sizes.
