Recyclers Refuge is aimed to be a symbol of hope for the informal waste-workers of South Africa. The shelter is designed from taking an existing shape of a trolley and combining it with a tent, the aim of recyclers refuge it to provide both a shelter and a means of income for the waste workers thus showing its duality.
The need for this product stems from the problem statement of where do the waste workers in the informal industry sleep and how do the elements of the day and night affect them.
The proposed concept is designed taking into consideration daylight exposure, thermal comfort, how light affects life and human centered design and dynamics.
