From the Antarctic to the Arctic, from polar day to polar night, from the industrial revolution to the climate crisis, the polar ecological environment is a sensitive indicator of global climate change. We want to establish a symbolic ecological order: where, beneath the surface of the sea, fish are accompanied and species are abundant; above the surface of the sea, the aurora borealis shines brightly and the starry sky shines. Therefore, we designed a installation that simulates a healthy and co-prosperous ecological environment while being able to measure temperature changes and raise people’s awareness of global warming. During the day, the polar sunlight and diffuse reflection from the ground provide the heat source for the installation. At night, the heat of the day is retained in the translucent membrane structure, and the material will appear in colors that vary with temperature. The different degrees of color changes are used to measure the degree of temperature change, thus alerting people to the warming climate. The material we use is temperature sensitive material.Color change is controlled by the difference of temperature.Fifteen basic colors, color change range from -15℃ to 65℃ can be set.
