In the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, global rates of anxiety and depression increased by a massive 25 percent.Findings in the UN health agency’s new report suggest that the greatest mental health deterioration occurred in the areas worst hit by COVID-19 -where infections were high and social interaction was restricted.Citing the unprecedented stress caused by social isolation as a major explanation for the increase, WHO said that loneliness, suffering, deaths in the family, grief after bereavement, and financial worries were also major factors fuelling anxiety and depression.Among health workers, exhaustion has been a major trigger prompting suicidal thoughts.Long-term home life keeps us away from the sun, the window becomes the only source of sunlight, and the interaction with light and shadow at the window can effectively stimulate our senses and relieve anxiety.

Our design was inspired by window blinds and interactive walls. Blinds enable the conversion of shading and transmission of light.Sunlight through the vertical blinds presents a very wonderful light and shadow effect. Although the structure is simple, the interactive wall on the side of the road can form a good Interactivity and fun by manually turning each piece to draw the pattern you want. The design combines the characteristics of the above two devices to create a device that interacts with light by flicking the blades to alleviate the anxiety of staying at home during the epidemicThe blade material is made of fluorescent stone, which can emit fluorescence at night after absorbing light energy during the day, bringing a unique visual experience for medical staff at night in the epidemic. The blades are strung on vertical straight rods, which are fixed horizontally to the frame. The size and shape of the frame can be customized. When the blades are all closed, they can play a shading effect when the sunlight is too strong. When the blades are all open, they are almost completely transparent and do not affect the sunlight entering the room. When you only pluck a few leaves, you can form the pattern of light spots you want.
